- Abstract
The objective of this work was to analyze the temporal evolution of the use, soil occupation, rainfall variation, maximum temperature and relative humidity average of air in the Southwest of Piauí, between 1984 and 2015. The images were collected from the Satellite Landsat 5 TM sensor and Landsat 8, which features the OLI "Operational Land Imager" optical sensor and TIRS "thermal infrared sensor". All steps were performed using ArcGIS® 10.1 Software. The meteorological data were obtained from INMET and INPE. The results revealed significant changes in the landscape of the Southwest of Piauí. There was a strong decrease in native vegetation and an increase of exposed soil and soil in use. Between 1984 and 2015, there was a 54.81% decrease in native vegetation and an increase of 297.98% in exposed soil and 179.16% in soil in use. Rainfall had an average monthly reduction of 14.34mm with a total drop of 172.08mm.year-1, the maximum temperature increased 0.91° C and relative humidity decreased 7.43%. It can be concluded that the reduction of native vegetation is directly related to the increase of areas with exposed soil, agricultural and urban areas and that these relationships can cause serious changes in the landscape of the region.
