- Abstract
This article discusses different methods of measuring nitrate leaching in mulched drip-irrigated zucchini, pepper, and tomato production systems in sandy soils. According to the authors, Soil coring and suction cup lysimeters are not suitable to calculate nitrogen leaching unless they are combined with modeling. They found that ceramic cup lysimeter values were lower than the values from drainage lysimeter and soil coring methods. They concluded that nitrate concentration patterns were similar for all methods when the nitrate concentration and leached volume were low.
