- Abstract
The article discusses the growth in the field of neurosciences from 1950s to the 21st century. It is stated that in the fifties and subsequent few decades, the discovery of the nerve growth factor was a typical fruit of a reductionistic success achieved by identifying a single substance. It further states that in the 20th century the study of life was approached with a reductionistic approach.
