- Abstract
The article "Epistemic Resistance. Conspiracy Theories and Political Conflict in the Corona Pandemic" by Carolin Amlinger examines the role of conspiracy theories in the political conflicts during the Corona pandemic. It is shown how conspiracy theories can be seen as compensation for complex social processes and lead to polarization of society. The protest movement "Querdenken 711" developed into an opposition movement that united various ideologies and currents. The movement uses conspiracy theories and secretive knowledge to create a common universe of meaning and generate an illusion of sovereignty. The magazine "Demokratischer Widerstand" presents itself as an independent editorial team that advocates for the restoration of liberal freedoms, but also includes critical statements from science. The text deals with various forms of resistance against measures to contain the Corona pandemic and shows how conspiracy theories can establish political alliances. It is pointed out that the protest concerns expand with the gradual lifting of pandemic regulations and that conspiracy theories could continue to play a role in future crises.
