- Abstract
The article presents an overview of occlusion in prosthodontics, which is the biologic interaction of the teeth, the temporomandibular joints (TMJs), and the jaw muscles, which together determine the functional tooth contact relationships in patients. A discussion of research which evaluated the outcomes of dental patients that had problems with occlusion repaired is presented. The role that the clinician-patient relationship plays in the outcome of patients that have been treated for occlusion problems is discussed.
