Far-Right Parties Might See Gains in European Elections.

- Abstract
The European Parliament elections are currently taking place, and there is a possibility of significant gains for far-right parties. This reflects a larger trend of rightward movement in European politics over the past decade. The far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) in Germany is expected to make gains, despite previous setbacks. The AfD has faced accusations of extremism, including instances of racist and neo-Nazi statements by party members. In France, Marine Le Pen's National Rally (RN) is predicted to capture over 30% of the vote, distancing itself from the AfD and attempting to appeal to a broader electorate. In Italy, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's Brothers of Italy (FdI) party is also expected to gain support. These elections are occurring amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which is impacting the EU's response and raising concerns about the future of the European project. The rise of far-right parties highlights the need for the EU to effectively address societal frustrations and challenges while maintaining unity and stability.
