- Abstract
Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is defined as a condition resulting from interruption of the local blood supply that impairs the vascularization, nutrition and oxygenation of nerve tissues, culminating in neuronal. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the static postural balance in relation to the stabilometric parameters in individuals with CVA submitted to the technique of neural mobilization (NM) of the sciatic nerve. This clinical study consisted of 33 volunteers, which were randomly assigned to 2 groups (experimental group-EG= 17 and control group-CG=16). The volunteers (EG) were submitted to an initial evaluation, through the stabilometry, being investigated the center of postural oscillation (CPO), on the anteroposterior axes (AP) and lateral (LL), protocols performed for 30 seconds. After the measurement, the participants were submitted to the MN technique of the sciatic nerve, in 3 sets, with 20 oscillations for 1 minute. The stabilometric parameters were evaluated immediately after MN. The volunteers of the CG were submitted to the initial stabilometric investigation, then a rest time of 4 minutes was waited for a new measurement. In the present study, statistically significant results were observed in EG regarding stabilometric parameters: total elliptical area (cm²) (p= 0,004) and CPO(Y) (ant-post) (p=0,010), however, no significant differences were found in CG patients. It is concluded that this therapeutic modality can be used for the treatment of adaptive diseases of the neural tract.
