- Abstract
The objective of the study was to analyze the presence of WMSDs in nursing professionals. It was an integrative review carried out in two moments, the first was from june to november 2014 and the second was from december 2016 to february 2017; which had as purpose to verify if there were new publications on the subject treated. The search was performed in electronic databases: PubMed, Library of Medicine (Medline), Scientific Electronic Library Online (ScieLO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (Lilacs). Only articles published between 2009-2014 were initially included in the second phase from 2015-2017. Those in portuguese and english that were available, randomized, controlled or comparative, prevalence, incidence and epidemiological articles that had in the sample nursing professionals were available in both moments. The articles were analyzed by three questionnaires structured to collect the information of the articles. For the methodological evaluation of the articles, the Jadad scale was used. Articles that did not contain data relevant to the survey were excluded. Of the 31 articles found, eight were submitted to the analysis, 15 were used in the elaboration of the scope of the article and eight were excluded because they did not fit the established criteria. At the second moment, we identified nine articles of these four were submitted to analysis and five were excluded. Among the main WMSDs that affect nursing professionals, there are low back pain, shoulder, neck and foot/ankle pain. It is concluded that there is a growing number of nursing professionals suffering from musculoskeletal diseases, however there are few studies with a high methodological standard that relate WMSDs to nursing professionals.
