- Abstract
In the present study, we report the academic differences noted between the American Psychological Association (APA) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) ethical codes. We utilized the archival research method in conducting a section-by-section, followed by a line-by-line comparison of the two codes. Overall, 58 differences were identified and, in the present article, we relate the 15 academic discrepancies, relating to research, professorial implications, and technology. Elsewhere (Firmin, DeWitt. Kuhlwein, Tiffan & Gibbs, 2017) we report the 43 clinical difference between the two codes. Consistent with past findings, the APA code overall is more prescription and stringent than is the NASP code. We discuss the present academic differences in light of the codes' respective ages, audiences, and overall congruency.
