Homeland Security: Political and Domestic Economy in Hannah More's "Coelebs in Search of a Wife."
- Authors
Cleere, Eileen
- Abstract
This article offers information on the political and domestic economy projected in "Coelebs in Search of a Wife," by Hannah More and other literary works. The author asserts that the high circulation rate of conduct literature during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries is brought by the intense importance of female subjectivity to middle-class economic identity. An analysis of More's approach on internal management and domestic woman identity is provided.
