- Abstract
Modelling of pluvial flooding and its possibilities to estimate potential risks to buildings In recent years, there has been an increasing amount of damage in Austria due to pluvial floods which were triggered by short‐term, high‐intensity precipitation. As part of a modelling and analysis of real, heavy rainfall events with damaging effects in the year 2016 in Laakirchen, Upper Austria, the reliability of pluvial flooding simulations is investigated by means of real runoff records. Based on these validations, it is shown how to identify potential buildings at risk with the help of pluvial flood simulation tools. The aim of this combined risk assessment is to analyze identification of buildings at risk as well as to demonstrate limitations of current, commonly‐used pluvial flood simulation tools.
