- Abstract
This article explores and reflects upon the potential of transition research in educational science. For this purpose, a systematic proposal to capture the previous debate so far is presented, which distinguishes it according to its cultural-institutional, development-related and biographical-subjective dimension. This is followed by a presentation of the concept-theoretical horizon of experience and orientation for assessing the present research work, which is topologically and historically grounded. From this, a theoretical background is gained, against which transition research in educational science can be assessed – especially in its biographical-subjective orientation. Against this background, transition research in educational science to date, especially in its biography-analytical and subject-oriented orientation, proves to be a field of research that is rich in knowledge but not sufficiently perspectivised in terms of institutionalization theory.
