- Title
Colorfastness To Bleaching.
- Authors
Easton, Bernard K.
- Abstract
The development of methods for assessing colorfastness to bleaching of textiles by chlorine and by peroxide is reviewed. Test methods to determine colorfastness to hieaching do not receive the publicity given to end-use methods, such as fastness to laundering, fastness to perspiration, fastness to sunlight, to name a few. Nevertheless, tests for fastness to bleaching fill an essential need of the finishing plant or converter which is called on to take the risk of bleaching yarn dyed, piece dyed, or printed fabrics, often of unknown origin. These tests also provide a safeguard for the finishing plant that intends to participate in military contracts that include strict color specifications for colored fabrics. It is imperative that these tests be reviewed regularly and updated to conform with processing Changes, style changes and fiber Changes.
