- Title
The Largest Drought in American History: Funding for Science Is Drying Up.
- Authors
LaBeaud, A. Desiree; McKeating, Hannah
- Abstract
The author reflects on the decrease of funding for the scientific research such as for neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in the U.S. due to the fiscal cliff. He states that the sequestration will cut the budget of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by around 5-9% and reduce the National Science Foundation (NSF) grants. An overview of the funding changes for science since 1998 is offered. The author adds that the funding drought will also affect the Department of Defense research.
