- Abstract
This study uses the three-stage Malmquist Index to calculate the efficiency scores of marketing, operation, and profit performance from 2003 to 2011 and further uses them as 3 strategy dimensions. The strategic groups of Taiwan's 14 financial holding companies (FHCs) are grouped together using the co-plot method. The empirical results show that Shin Kong is in the leading group, followed by Hua Nan, MEGA, and Chinatrust as the following groups. Finally, Fubon, Cathay, and Waterland are grouped as the laggard group. The co-plot analysis clearly shows 14 FHCs on the 2-dimensional surface. The results also allow the financial holding industry to understand the industry configuration and competition from other companies.
