The article examines the Gramscian theory in Bolivia from government rhetoric to radical critique. Topics discussed include key texts by Vice President García Linera and Luis Tapia that demonstrate the political nature of Bolivian social theory and highlight the social function that the intellectuals themselves perform, overview of the historical context of the election of the Movement toward Socialism (MAS) and the passive revolution and the integral state.
