- Abstract
This article discusses the history and development of Bill C-377 in Canada to reform the nation's income tax act, which would make financial statements of labor unions open to the public. The bill was presented by conservative politician Russ Hiebert in 2011 and the authors comment on the influence of Canadian public opinion on the bill, citing poll results conducted by LabourWatch and Nanos Research. The role of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) in publishing such information on their government website is also examined.
