- Abstract
The article discusses the nuclear arsenal of the U.S. government in Kansas during the Cold War in 1959-1965. Also cited are the twelve intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) sites near Schilling Air Force Base (AFB) in central Kansas, the purpose of the nuclear weapons to deter Russia's aggression, and the policy of nuclear deterrence adopted by U.S. president Dwight Eisenhower.
