- Title
Matter and Spirit, Body and Soul, Time and Eternity in Donne's Anniversaries: A Response.
- Authors
ANDERSON, JUDITH H.
- Abstract
The author reflects on the essays by Ryan Netzley, Sarah Powrie, and Michael Ursell on the Anniversary poems of John Donne and how they address the relation of matter to spirit, body to soul, time to eternity in the poems. Topics include the different understanding of the authors to Donne's poem "The Second Anniversarie" through their interpretive lenses, the use of radical empiricism, and the general influence of Augustinian inner dialogue in the work of Donne.
