- Abstract
An essay is presented on written evidence about the statues of Greek deity Aphrodite Ourania in Elis and Athens, Greece. Topics discussed include the description of the statue at Elis by geographer Pausanias, the attribution of the work to sculptor Pheidias, and the dating of the art. Also provided is information regarding the association of the statue with the Aphrodite Brazzà type in Berlin, Germany.
