- Abstract
This study addresses the remote teaching developed by Brazilian schools during the suspension of classroom classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper is based on bibliographical and documental reviews. It presents the possibilities found by educational systems and networks to maintain the educational offer, through remote teaching with the contribution of Digital Information and Communication Technologies. It highlights the forms of access and the limiting factors for the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process, especially in the financially disadvantaged parts of society. It also points out the possible impacts on the return of presential classes and the new challenges generated by the long period of interruption of classes in educational institutions. The research points to the need to rethink and reorganize schools and pedagogical practices, as well as the urgent need for greater investments in the infrastructure of school institutions and in the initial and continuing education of educators for better use of digital technologies in education. Thus, contributing to overcoming the learning demands of students in the post-pandemic period.
