- Title
THE SERVVS CALLIDVS AND RITUAL IMAGERY IN PLAUTUS' EPIDICVS.
- Authors
Gellar-Goad, T. H. M.
- Abstract
The article discusses the play "Epidicus" by the Roman playwright Titus Maccius Plautus. Particular focus is paid to the idea that Epidicus is an example of the seruus callidus character type, one that is associated with religious symbols and ritual imagery. The author concludes that the seruus callidus emphasizes the important role played by Epidicus in the re-establishment of the play's citizen family.
