Surgical Management of Bladder Rupture in a Dog.

- Abstract
An intact male dog was presented with history of anuria since last two days along with anorexia, vomiting and drops of bloods dribbling while straining. Abdominal palpation revealed distended abdomen and pain was evinced. The animal was anaesthetized for exploratory laprotomy. Around three litres of blood mixed urine was drained and bladder was exteriorized. On the dorsal aspect of bladder, a tear (8cm) filled with blood clots and fibrous tissues were noticed. Necrotic areas was also noticed around the edges, clots and fibrous tissues were removed. The wound edges were debrided and bladder and abdominal cavity was flushed with normal saline and Metronidazole solution. The bladder, line alba and skin were apposed using PGA in a simple continuous manner and silk in cross mattress manner. A catheter was introduced and fixed at the prepucial area. The animal had an uneventful recovery.
