- Abstract
Mammillitis characterized by sudden inflammation, enlargement of teat, difficulty in milking, formation of black necrotic patches followed by circumscribed necrotic areas on base of teat and finally sloughing of affected teat was observed in five primiparous buffaloes. The buffaloes were treated with Lithium antimony thiomalate and Chlorophenaramine maleate. Three buffaloes responded to therapy and showed early signs of recovery after 7 days of last dose of treatment. Therapeutic mangement helped in overcoming mammillitis in buffaloes and attributed to its anti-fibrosis and anti-allergic activity of therapeutics.
