- Abstract
The heavy sanctionatory and reputational damage that may follow a violation of EU competition rules is duly taken into account by undertakings that have drammatically increased the investments in competition compliance.EU institutions have adopted a completely neutral position concerning the value to be given to compliance programmes.The industry is deeply engaged in the debate surrounding competition compliance efforts as a number of initiatives taken recently to diffuse compliance culture witness.To structure an effective and robust antitrust compliance programme companies primarily refer to their in-house counsel due to their direct involvement in the company's decisions.
