- Title
THE COLONIAL POSTCARD: THE SPECTRAL/TELEPATHIC MODE IN CONAN DOYLE AND KIPLING.
- Authors
Ghosh, Bishnupriya
- Abstract
A literary criticism on the occult in the work of authors Rudyard Kipling and Arthur Conan Doyle is presented. The author believes that Kipling and Doyle best represent British fiction in this genre during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It outlines Kipling's preference for telepathy in his work "The Mark of the Beast," "The Return of Imray," and "My Own True Ghost Story." Doyle's focus on ectoplasm in "The Brown Hand," "The Mystery of Cloomber," and "A Study in Scarlet," is discussed.
