- Abstract
The interest in research and proposals regarding the artistic and cultural development of the rural sector in Ecuador has been null, little addressed and insufficient. When considering the concept of development within the framework of rurality, one generally thinks of concepts such as productivity, livestock, industry, agriculture, fishing and, currently, tourism: a growing activity on which several studies can be found in academic search engines. For this reason, the present investigation that seeks to contribute with a description of the situations that are evident in the community under study is proposed, in particular, with a commitment to artistic, communicational and cultural development that, taking as a starting point, to the community cinema seen as the catalytic element of the strengthening of integration, the work with cultural identity, and the visual literacy that Ecuadorian society so lacks. To refer to the use of audiovisual tools from the perspective of community cinema, the research design was non-experimental and the non-experimental mixed methodology was used. Data collection was carried out in field visits to the inhabitants of the Tres Cerritos Parish where formulated a survey, participatory observation techniques and an ethnographic field diary to recognize the cultural development of the rural sector and demonstrate the spaces to which they have dedicated to artistic and cultural activities. In conclusion, with the premise that community cinema is “[...] an integrated whole, a productive micro chain, for good living, for the impact of change, to achieve sustainability” (Kaspar, 2014), the writing a scientific article that explores, and looks at said activity as a communicative reference that generates interaction, and promotes the realization of cultural and artistic practices that promote development seen as a broad concept, not only as productive development.
