- Abstract
The article presents a study which identifies the cause of death (COD) among lower-risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) patient. It states that COD was analyzed in a group of 273 deceased patients with lower-risk MDS and the other COD was separated as non-MDS-related. The results show that in 230 patients, 84% of patients were identified as MDS-related wherein 38% of the most common CODs are caused by infection and cardiovascular events as the most frequent non-disease related COD.
