The article focuses on clinical practice guideline on the diagnosis of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) from American Thoracic Society (ATS), European Respiratory Society (ERS), and Japanese Respiratory Society (JRS). It mentions radiological patterns of usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) described in the guidelines are like those described in a statement from the Fleischner Society. It also mentions risks of surgical lung biopsy in patients with newly detected interstitial lung disease.
