- Abstract
The article presents an analysis of "Ida Revolt inna Jonkonnu Stylee" play performed by Sistren Theatre Collective in Jamaica in 1985 as part of the Caribbean Popular Theatre Exchange. The play was based on the 1938 Frome estate riot, drawing out the parallel between economic and political conditions in Jamaica in 1930s and 1980s. It notes that Sistren Theatre, which is composed mainly of working-class Jamaican women, aims to educate audiences on the involvement of women in labour rebellions.
