- Title
SOME NECESSARY CONSIDERATIONS IN CONSTRUCTING A CURRICULUM IN SCIENCE FOR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
- Authors
West, Joe Young
- Abstract
The article outlines a set of procedures for either constructing a curriculum in science for the elementary school or for revising the existing program in response to the continuing changes of human beings. The basic assumption of the outline is that each school is a unique entity and therefore should have its own curriculum adapted, in so far as possible, to the needs of its own personnel. The first consideration in constructing a curriculum, is developing a philosophy of education by the persons who are to use the curriculum. The philosophy underlying the educational program, then, determines the objectives and provides the setting. The evaluation of the outcome of the science curriculum largely contribute in the construction of a curriculum in elementary science.
