- Title
Textile exporters may get refund of state duties.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a draft note prepared by the commerce ministry concerning a mechanism to refund state-level duties to textiles and clothing exporters in India. The six percent state-level duties on exporters of textiles and clothing may remain on its current level or may be formulated under the proposed mechanism. The draft also proposes that the Central government refunds the levies paid by exporters. It is noted that the draft note is a good news for textile and clothing exporters who are experiencing the negative effects of rupee appreciation.
