- Abstract
Medial tibial stress syndrome is a common problem of the lower limbs, especially in athletes but it is also common in soldiers. Various pathophysiological mechanisms are involved in the development of medial tibial stress syndrome. A higher incidence of medial tibial stress syndrome is associated with foot hyperpronation and higher body mass index. The patient's clinical examination plays an important role in diagnosis. The main symptom is pain in the posteromedial part of the shin and palpable. Another important diagnostic sign is pain exacerbated by exercise. Several biomechanical factors are involved in the development of medial tibial stress syndrome. Conservative treatment is most common in the treatment of medial tibial stress syndrome. Rehabilitation therapies are a significant part of the treatment with good outcomes.
