- Abstract
The experiment was conducted to study the effect of insecticides and stages of insecticidal spray on seed quality parameters in greengram. The investigation was carried out in the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, SHIATS Allahabad during Kharif 2012. The experiment was laid out the in factorial randomized block design (FRBD) consisted of 15 treatment combinations involving two factors with three replications. Seed quality parameters differed significantly due to insecticides, irrespective of the stages of insecticidal sprays. The greengram plants sprayed with malathion @ 5 ml/l gave significantly higher seed index, seed germination, root length, shoot length, seedling vigour index and seedling dry matter (4.0g, 88.16%, 6.04 cm, 14.22 cm 1786.5, 0.15 mg, respectively) followed by nimbicidine and methyl parathion as against untreated control plants (3.29g, 80.83%, 2.86cm, 6.76cm, 766.65 and 0.11 mg, respectively). Similar results were recorded in spraying of insecticides at 20 and 10 Days before harvest as compared to 20 or 10 days before harvest. Interaction effect between insecticides and stages of insecticidal spraying (IxS) were found non-significant for most of the seed yield and quality parameters.
