- Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to examine some variables that predict NSs' knowledge towards IM injection. Materials and Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out with 359 NSs who gave their informed consent between 01.12.2020-15.01.2021. Research data were collected with the 'Student Information Form' and 'Intramuscular Injection Success Test'. The data were analyzed using the SPSS version 22.0. Descriptive statistics and CHAID (decision trees technique) analysis, which is a multivariate statistical approach technique, were used in the analysis of the data. Results: The IM Injection Success Test means score of the NSs was determined to be 8.82 ± 0.20 out of 21 points. According to the result of CHAID analysis; it was determined that female students had significantly higher knowledge scores (p<0.001). In addition, it was determined that the intramuscular knowledge scores of female students decreased as the years of education increased (p=0.034). For male students; it was determined that as the number of intramuscular injection applications increased, the intramuscular injection knowledge score also increased significantly (p=0.001). Conclusion: It was determined that the intramuscular injection knowledge of the nursing students was not sufficient and there were areas that needed improvement.
