When the logic of late capitalism meets the logic of ethno-nationalism: An exhibition review of "Separation".
- Authors
Tzfadia, Erez
- Abstract
This review of the ‘Hafrada’ (Separation) exhibition in Israel argues that separation is the territorial manifestation of the confluence between the logic of ethno-national control, associated with practices of ethnic territoriality, and the cultural logic of late capitalism, associated with globalization and supra-national order. Thus, despite the supposed promise of globalization and European unification for minority rights and tolerance, segregation, exclusion and ghettoization remain apparent in contemporary urban life.
