The challenges of MDx on FFPE tissue.
- Authors
Brunstein, John
- Abstract
The article discusses formalin fixed, paraffin embedded (FFPE), and the challenges faced by molecular diagnostics (MDx) laboratories in dealing with FFPE tissue as a starting material for molecular testing. Topics discussed include process in making FFPE samples from fixing the tissue to grossing, need to communicate with pathology department the importance of formalin exposure time minimization, and shortening of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) amplicon.
