- Abstract
In this study, the labor inspection functions of State administrative bodies are characterized, specifically those of the Supervision Units under Labor Inspection, the National Labor Institute for Prevention, Health and Safety (INPSASEL), the Venezuelan Social Security Institute (IVSS), the National Council for Handicapped Persons (CONAPDIS) and the National Institute for Socialist Training and Education (INCES). The topic is approached through an exhaustive documentary review of current labor laws (national and international) that regulate the matter, in order to describe the functions of work inspection that the aforenamed institutions should carry out and the legal faculties of their functionaries. In some cases, labor inspection is carried out in a general way, evaluating various work-related matters according to the diverse laws that support this activity. In other cases, labor inspection is performed in a specialized manner, according to specific areas within its legal purview. Conclusions highlight that, for the efficacy of the labor inspection system, the organizations that make it up should collaborate among themselves. Work inspection should re-invent itself so as not to lose its actuality, since the Venezuelan labor reality has new actors.
