- Abstract
The article presents information on the cnidarian community on the volcanic coastline of Sakurajima Taisho Lava field in southern Japan. The cnidarian community is a mix of organisms belongs to a variety of ecosystems. The larvae of cnidarians are brought from the Nansei and Ryukyu islands. The Taisho Lava field is considered as an ideal habitat for benthos including zoanthids, bubble anemone, soft coral genera Nephthea and hard coral genera Acropora. A large increase has been registered in the population of Acropora and Zoanthus.
