TRENDS IN URBAN GOVERNMENT AND ADMINISTRATION.
- Authors
GRANT, DANIEL R.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the past and present trends in the government and administration of cities in the U.S., and the projection of such trends into the future. It mentions many assumptions that can be used to predict future urban governmental trends including population increases in metropolitan areas, an increase in automobile population, and an increase in the population of older people. It discusses the difficulty in identifying trends in urban government, the future trends in science, technology and municipal bureaucracy, and how technological developments such as electronic data processing can impact the planning of urban functions. It also discusses the future of the governmental structure for the metropolitan area and various metropolitan problems.
