- Abstract
The article reports on Spanish ecclesiastical jurisprudence in 2009. It describes legal challenges to the mandatory public education course "Educación para la ciudadanía" which, according to opponents, contains ideological and religious material. The article also describes a legal suit filed by the Real Academia de la Historia (Spanish academy of history) against the Consejería de Educación y Cultura de la Junta de Castilla y León (educational and cultural commission of the government of Castilla y León, Spain), which authorized the re-modeling of the presbytery of the Catedral de Ávila (cathedral of Ávila, Spain). It further describes a case involving the failure to remove religious symbols from the Macías Picavea public school in Valladolid, Spain.
