- Abstract
This article discusses a case of methcathinone-induced parkinsonism, a condition caused by the recreational use of methcathinone, a psychostimulant. The parkinsonian syndrome is characterized by symptoms such as bradykinesia, dystonia, and gait impairment. The patient in the case study did not respond to levodopa treatment but showed improvement after a 5-day course of intravenous amantadine. The article suggests that further exploration of the use of amantadine in treating methcathinone-induced parkinsonism is warranted, as there are currently no effective treatments for this condition.
