- Authors
Rice, Hawey M.; Miller, Thomas R.
- Abstract
The article reports that the State Board of Education was made by the State Board of Education in 1951 to replace the office of Director of Education with the state education authority in 1951 Rhode Island. The revision of certification requirements was the first move of the new Board, which took effect on August 1, 1952. The new regulations set up were much higher compared to the old ones and are quite the same to those in the Eight-State Reciprocity Agreements. Unlike the old regulations, student teaching is required in the secondary school with a minimum of six semester hours and certification for teaching high school subjects is by endorsement of area.
