- Title
Surgical Treatment for Epilepsy Too Little, Too Late?
- Authors
Engel Jr., Jerome
- Abstract
The author expresses his opinion that surgical treatment for epilepsy is underused. He refers to the analysis by Choi and colleagues which predicts the survival following surgery compared with continued medical management for patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. He believes that the results should provide incentive for physicians to refer patients for surgery but that the results likely underestimate the benefit of surgery.
