- Title
Sleep Apnea Linked to Cardiovascular Risks.
- Authors
Hampton, Tracy
- Abstract
The article discusses research concerning the relationship of sleep disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) to cardiovascular risks such as hypertension due to low blood oxygen levels. Particular attention is paid to research that suggests that continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) may be an effective method for lowering blood pressure. The effects of commercial airline flights on cardiovascular risk for individuals with OSA are explored. The use of CPAP to treat hypertension and OSA when other traditional treatment methods are not effective is weighted.
