- Abstract
The article present a study on the fetomaternal hemorrhage (FMH) which results from a pathological failure of separation between the fetal and maternal circulations. Topics discussed include acute FMH can result in decreased oxygen-carrying capacity in the blood resulting in end-organ damage; characterizing distinct differences between acute and chronic FMH; and compensatory mechanisms from chronic hemorrhage help maintain euvolemia in these infants at birth.
