- Title
Review of running the family firm.
- Authors
Smith, Daniel
- Abstract
The article discusses the concept of kingship as a political economy of social subjugation, where one person is king because others see themselves as subjects. It explores the relationship between awe and dread in the accumulation of wealth by monarchs, using examples from the British monarchy. The author argues that the British Royal Family plays a role in global wealth inequalities and that their economic power is intertwined with their symbolic status. The article concludes that monarchy perpetuates social inequality and that addressing global inequalities requires the abolition of monarchy.
