- Abstract
David Ray Griffin, a world-renowned philosopher in constructive postmodernism and the representative of the fourth generation of organic-process philosophy, was twice nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and was included on a list of "The 50 People Who Matter Today". Upon his passing, many in academia viewed it as a great loss, describing it as "a giant philosophical star fell down: Griffin was committed to pursuing the common good of both humans and nature, and believed in expanding our love and care to all sentient beings. He also dedicated himself to resisting various forms of hegemonism and working towards the survival and development of the marginalized, the weak, and nature. One of his major contributions to philosophy was his development of panexperientialism, a theory based on process philosophy that seeks to overcome the dualism of subject and object, mind and body, and bridge the divide between humans and nature that was established by modern Western philosophers such as Descartes. By doing so, Griffin's work fundamentally challenges anthropocentrism. He found great hope in China's ecological civilization construction and put his constructive postmodernism into practice, e.g. by building an eco-friendly house. He was a philosopher in the truest sense, with a loyalty to the world and a willingness to stand up for his beliefs. He was a brave and pioneering Ecosopher for our times.
