- Abstract
This text is a review of the book "Genesis of teaching Journalism in Brazil" by journalism professor Paulo da Rocha Dias (UFMT). Published by Letras Contemporâneas, the work analyzes the history of the first initiatives aimed at the professionalization of the category through a higher education course and analyzes foreign influences in the basic national curriculum, especially those of American origin. Despite pointing to a historical dependence on North American thought, the author argues that it is not too late for the development of an originally Brazilian school.
