- Abstract
Introduction: Patient satisfaction is an important component of the evaluation of health systems and services. Objective: The aim of this study was to propose an indicator and evaluate factors associated with patient satisfaction in specialized dental services in the National Health System of Brazil. Material and methods: A cross sectional study utilizing data of the External Evaluation of the Program to Improve Access and Quality of Dental Specialty Centers (PMAQ-CEO) was performed. The description of data from the Patient Satisfaction Indicator of the PMAQ-CEO was performed, and verified the factors associated with patient satisfaction using Pearson´s chi-squared test and simple binary logistic regression (p<0,05). Results: The mean scores of satisfaction patterns were 9.9 (±1.7). A higher level of satisfaction was found among patients in southeastern region of Brazil (15.9%), whose appointments were scheduled by telephone (20.0%) with a set time (17.9%), for orthodontics/orthopedics specialty (20.7%). Conclusion: Satisfaction was associated with patients from services in southeastern region of Brazil, for orthodontics/orthopedics and for scheduling phone appointments with set time.
